The Chevron Renaissance Medical Centre accepts walk-ins or you can phone and make an appointment. Emergencies will always be given priority.

Walk-in appointments will be allocated to the first available doctors unless a specific doctor has been requested. The order the patients are seen is determined by the number of minutes waited and also the nature of the appointment.

Every effort is made to keep to appointment times but this is difficult due to emergencies, walk-in patients or unexpected longer consultations. To help us schedule appropriately, please tell our receptionists if your consultation is likely to be long (e.g. insurance medicals, postnatal checks, pap smears, counselling, excisions, and if more than one member of the family is to be seen.

After Hours and Emergency Care and home visits

13Sick Accepts bookings for home visits during the after hours period, as defined by Medicare Australia. Contact 13 74 25.

Home Visits

We do provide house calls for patients of this practice when necessary on request. It is usually better if you are able to attend the surgery as this is better equipped for examination and treatment.

Patient Recall  for Preventative Care

To further improve our service to you, we have implemented a Patient Register for Preventative Activities. This is a Reminder/Recall System in which we contact the patient by either mail or phone for follow-up of a preventative activity such as a skin check, cholesterol check, blood pressure check, Pap smear, Mammogram or Prostate examination etc. Our practice also takes part in state and territory registers which help us work out who is due to be seen. Patients attending this practice will automatically be included on our Reminder/Recall Register. Patients are requested to inform the Doctor, Nurse or Reception if they choose not to be included. You will need to sign a form if so, for us to keep on record.

Communication and Telephone Policy

All staff will remain up-to-date with each doctors’ policy with regarding returning patient phone calls. All messages must be documented and actioned as appropriate.

Communication Policy Our Practice gives patients sufficient information about the purpose, importance, benefits and risks and possible costs associated with proposed investigations, referrals, or treatments where possible to enable patients to make informed decisions about their health. At Chevron Renaissance Medical, all patient phone calls are taken or call returned by our Receptionists. Calls that need to be passed to the patient’s doctor is then recorded in the Communication Book and discussed with the doctor.

It is not standard procedure to put calls from Patients directly to the doctors. Patients can book appointments by calling the practice during our operating hours. Appropriate phone calls are relayed to the doctor for action. Telephone calls from Specialists and Health Professionals are put through to the doctor. The doctors will advise reception if they are expecting a call that they wish to take. The Doctors provide printed referral letters to the patient to see Specialists and Allied Health professionals as needed for further management.

Patient Health Information

A patient health record is a detailed, confidential document compiled by a health professional over a period on a person. It is stored securely in an electronic format. Its primary purpose is to:

 • identify a person accurately              • record symptoms and signs

 • support diagnosis                              • Document management decisions.

Our receptionists will confirm on your arrival that we have the right person booked in. Staff will ask you to give your name, date of birth, and home address each time to ensure that we have the right patient.

Test Results

If you have been referred for a test, please ensure you contact us for the results within two to three days. Results will not be given over the telephone.

Interpreter Services
